The Holy See Press Office has formalized the program for the next apostolic trip to Dubai. Pope Francis will remain in the Emirati city for just under 48 hours and will speak twice in public, a speech and a greeting. The Supreme Pontiff will lead several rounds of bilateral talks and inaugurate the Pavilion of Faith at Expo City, in the economic capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The Pope will take off from Rome-Fiumicino Friday, December 1st to 11:30 am and will land at Dubai International Airport/World Central at 8:25 pm local time. A welcome ceremony will be held at this time.
Saturday, December 2nd, the Pope will give his speech at 10 am to COP28 participants at Expo City in Dubai. At 10:30 am, the Bishop of Rome will begin a cycle of private bilateral meetings, which will resume in the afternoon, at 3:30 pm.
Sunday, December 3at 9 am, Francisco will inaugurate the “Pavilion of Faith” at ExpoCidade. It is in this pavilion that religious leaders and leaders will be able to discuss inter-religious collaboration in the fight against climate change, unifying and maximizing the collective action of religious actors. The return is scheduled for 10:45 am from Dubai International Airport, arriving in Rome at 2:40 pm.
This is the first time that a Supreme Pontiff has participated in a COP, the United Nations conference on climate change.
